Chiropody Medway - Understanding Chiropody

Chiropody deals with the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of foot and lower limb injuries, ailments and abnormalities. The foot is complex and contains 26 bones. The feet actually account for over 25% of the bones in the adult body. Like any complex structure the feet are prone to problems so benefit from periodic maintenance. It’s no surprise then that chiropody has become one of the fastest growing healthcare professions today.

“As you know I was training for the London Marathon when I was struck down over Christmas with the most excruciating pain in the arch of my right foot. I really thought my chances were over. However thanks to your wonderful treatment I was literally back up and running again within a couple of weeks. I had never heard of plantar fasciitis before but now I can even pronounce it! Thanks to you I was able to complete the race in 3 hours 47 minutes.”
Jenny Campbell, Chatham Kent
“I would just like to thank you for the excellent work you have carried out to ‘repair me’. Since you supplied my orthotic insoles, the pain in my right knee has disappeared completely. This after three years of non-stop suffering. I really can’t thank you enough and can whole heartedly recommend your services to everyone. Best regards.”
Richard Cunningham, Maidstone Kent

Chiropody or Podiatry?

Confusion reigns over the difference between ‘chiropody’ and ‘podiatry’. So to put the record straight they are one and the same thing. ‘Chiropody’ has been traditionally used in the UK but it is somewhat of a misnomer since the word derives from the Greek ‘chiro’ meaning ‘hand’ and ‘pous’ meaning ‘foot’. So ‘podiatry’ has come from America which is strictly more correct however we are still happy to use the word ‘chiropody’.
